Patna: As the four-day Chhath festival continues, Bihar is experiencing a slight rise in temperature compared to last year. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted foggy conditions in Patna and several other districts on November 7 and 8. Despite the fog, the weather is expected to remain dry across the state.
According to a bulletin issued by the Meteorological Center, morning fog will affect 13 districts of Bihar, including Purnia, East and West Champaran, Saran, Darbhanga, Supaul, Araria, Sheohar, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, Kishanganj, Siwan, and Lakhisarai. The bulletin also provides sunrise and sunset timings for Chhath across all districts.
The IMD reported that maximum temperatures across the districts range from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, minimum temperatures are being recorded between 20 to 22 degrees in South Bihar, and 19 to 21 degrees in North Bihar. The department forecasts a gradual drop in temperatures over the next week.
SK Patel, a meteorologist from Patna’s Meteorological Department, stated that the weather will remain dry for the coming days, with no adverse weather warnings. “North-western winds are reaching the state, bringing a noticeable change in the weather. These dry winds will reduce the daytime minimum temperatures,” he said.
Patel explained that the winds are cool and dry, and due to the lack of moisture, the sky will appear clear. Light fog is expected in the mornings, particularly near riverbanks, but the fog is likely to dissipate once the winds pick up.
Over the last 24 hours, Gaya, Bhojpur, Chhapra, and Sheikhpura emerged as the hottest districts in the state, according to the IMD. On the other hand, the lowest temperatures were recorded in Rohtas and East Champaran. The department has released weather data for 14 districts.
