Patna: In a move aimed at improving passenger convenience and strengthening station information systems, the Sonpur Division of Indian Railways has decided to install new timetable-cum-advertisement boards at 87 railway stations under its jurisdiction.
The initiative is expected to help passengers access train arrival and departure information more easily while also creating additional revenue opportunities for the Railways through advertising.
87 Stations Covered Under the Plan
The project will cover 87 stations across the division, including Shahpur Patori and Dalsinghsarai. Railway officials said the modern timetable boards will provide passengers with clear and accessible train schedule information, reducing the need to search for updates at multiple locations within stations.
The new boards are expected to improve the overall passenger experience and make station information systems more efficient.
E-Auction Scheduled for June 15
To implement the project, the Railways has initiated an e-auction process. Interested individuals, agencies and companies can participate in the online auction, which is scheduled to be held on June 15.
Officials said the process has been designed to ensure transparency and wider participation.
Advertising Rights on Locomotives Also Up for Auction
In addition to the station boards, Sonpur Division will conduct an e-auction for advertising rights on five locomotives.
Railway authorities expect the initiative to generate additional non-fare revenue and create new branding opportunities for businesses.
Begusarai and Naugachia Stall Auctions on June 18
The Railways has also announced e-auctions for operating NFR stalls at Begusarai and Naugachia railway stations.
The auction process will begin at 12 noon on June 18. Entrepreneurs and interested applicants can participate through the online platform.
Entire Process Through IREPS Portal
According to railway officials, all tenders and auctions related to the projects will be conducted through the Indian Railways E-Procurement System (IREPS) portal.
The fully online process is intended to ensure transparency, fairness and equal opportunity for all participants.
Additional Revenue and Employment Opportunities
Railway officials said the initiatives are expected to increase revenue through advertising and commercial operations. The additional income will be utilised to improve passenger amenities and station infrastructure.
The projects are also likely to generate employment and self-employment opportunities at the local level. Officials believe the move will support economic activity in the region while providing passengers with improved facilities and a more modern station experience.
