Patna: Soumya Prakash, a graduate of Patna Women’s College and a postgraduate from the College of Commerce at Patna University, has been honoured with the My Bharat-NSS Award for the year 2022-23. The award, presented by President Draupadi Murmu, recognises young individuals who have shown exceptional dedication to social service and youth leadership. Soumya’s work in the National Service Scheme (NSS) has made her a standout volunteer, admired by both faculty and fellow students.
Since joining the NSS, Soumya has actively participated in every programme at Patna Women’s College. She has taken leadership roles in cleanliness drives, cultural activities, and community service projects. Her dedication, discipline, and consistent efforts have made her a role model for other students involved in social work. Patna University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajay Kumar Singh, Dean Prof. Anil Kumar, and College of Commerce Principal Prof. Suheli Mehta congratulated her on this achievement, praising her commitment and hard work.
Dr. Avinash Kumar, who served as her team leader during the National Integration Camp and pre-Republic Day parade, said Soumya has always been a disciplined and responsible volunteer. He noted that her selection for the award was a reflection of her consistent efforts and the high regard in which she is held by the state of Bihar. Former NSS officers, including Dr. Amrita and Dr. Prem Kumar, also congratulated her for this well-deserved recognition.
