Patna: With IndiGo’s flight operations facing nationwide disruption and air travellers struggling to find alternatives, East Central Railway has announced a series of special trains to ease the pressure on routes connecting Bihar to Delhi.
The additional services, running from Patna and Darbhanga to Anand Vihar Terminal, are expected to bring major relief to passengers who have been dealing with cancellations, delays and soaring airfares in recent days.
According to East Central Railway, train no. 02309 Patna–Anand Vihar Terminal Special will leave Patna at 8.30pm on December 6 and 8, reaching Anand Vihar at 3pm the following day.
On the return leg, train no. 02310 Anand Vihar–Patna Special will depart at 7pm on December 7 and 9, arriving in Patna at 2pm the next day.
A second service, train no. 02395 Patna–Anand Vihar Special, will run on December 7, departing Patna at 8.30pm and reaching its destination the next afternoon. Its return pair, train no. 02396, will leave Anand Vihar at December 7pm on 8.
For travellers from north Bihar, train no. 05563 Darbhanga–Anand Vihar Terminal Special will depart Darbhanga at 6.15pm on December 7, arriving in Delhi at 9.15pm the next day.
The return service, train no. 05564, will depart Anand Vihar at 12.05am on December 9 and reach Darbhanga at 11pm the same day.
Railways officials said the extra services were planned in response to the surge in travel demand and the severe inconvenience faced by passengers following IndiGo’s operational crisis. The trains, they added, are expected to run at full capacity.
