Patna: St Michael’s High School Team A emerged victorious in the 16th St Ignatius of Loyola Inter-School Football Tournament, defeating the school’s Team B in an all-St Michael’s Under-19 boys’ final to cap three days of competition featuring 17 schools from across Bihar.
The tournament, hosted by St Michael’s High School from July 27, concluded on Wednesday with a closing ceremony celebrating the sporting spirit of participants while also commemorating more than 500 years of the legacy of St Ignatius of Loyola and his contribution to the Jesuit community.
Hosts Dominate The Tournament
Thousands of students from St Michael’s High School and participating schools watched the final, in which St Michael’s Team A secured the winners’ trophy, while St Michael’s Team B finished as runners-up.
The closing ceremony began with the arrival of chief guest Fr Ignatius Abraham SJ, a scholar, musician and educator, who was welcomed by the school band.
Principal Fr A Christu Savarirajan SJ congratulated the players for their performances throughout the tournament and stressed the importance of fair play and sportsmanship in competitive sport.
Vice Principal Dr Marie Anne D’Cruz delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the chief guest, school management, referees, teacher coordinators, sports teachers and participating schools.
The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem before the presentation of trophies and individual awards.
Individual Honours
Yameen Ahmad of St Michael’s High School was named Player of the Tournament, while Shashwat finished as the tournament’s Top Scorer.

- Best Emerging Players: Shivam Raj and Harshvardhan (St Michael’s High School)
- Best Goalkeepers: Aabel Susan Joe and Chaitanya Kabir (St Michael’s High School)
- Best Defender: Abhijeet (St Michael’s High School)
- Best Playmaker: Sandeep Pratap (St Michael’s High School)
- Fair Play Award: Loyola High School
In the final, Yameen Ahmad and Naitik shared the Player of the Match honour.
The tournament featured 17 matches over three days, with individual Player of the Match awards presented after every fixture, recognising standout performances from schools across Bihar.
