Patna: Gold and silver prices registered modest gains on Wednesday, July 29, according to data released by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA).
The price of 24-carat gold increased by Rs 178 to Rs 1.42 lakh per 10 grams, while silver climbed by Rs 1,270 to Rs 2.19 lakh per kilogram.
Gold Up Rs 9,000 This Year
Despite recent volatility, gold has appreciated by around Rs 9,000 so far in 2026. On December 31, 2025, 10 grams of gold was priced at just over Rs 1.33 lakh. It has since risen to Rs 1.42 lakh.
Gold, however, remains well below its all-time high of Rs 1.76 lakh, recorded on January 29.
Silver Still Below Start-Of-Year Level
Silver has followed a different trajectory. Although prices rose on Wednesday, the metal remains Rs 11,000 cheaper than at the end of last year.
Silver was trading at Rs 2.30 lakh per kilogram on December 31, 2025, compared with Rs 2.19 lakh currently. It touched a record high of Rs 3.86 lakh per kilogram on January 29 before retreating sharply.
Analysts Recommend Staggered Investments
Commodity market experts said both gold and silver have corrected significantly from their record highs, creating opportunities for long-term investors.
They cautioned against making lump-sum investments and instead recommended investing in phases to reduce the impact of market volatility.
According to their projections, gold could recover to around Rs 1.60 lakh per 10 grams by the end of the year, while silver may climb to Rs 2.80 lakh per kilogram.
ETFs Offer An Alternative To Physical Bullion
Investors can also gain exposure to precious metals through Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), which track the market prices of gold and silver.
Gold ETFs and Silver ETFs are traded on the BSE and NSE in the same way as shares. Investors do not receive physical bullion but can buy or sell units at prevailing market prices. Investments can typically begin with as little as Rs 500.
