Patna: Six years after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput sent shockwaves through India’s film industry and beyond, memories of the actor continue to resonate with millions who admired not only his work on screen but also his curiosity, intellect and optimism.
June 14 marks the sixth anniversary of Sushant’s death. The actor, who was 34 when he was found dead at his residence in Mumbai’s Bandra neighbourhood in 2020, remains one of the most discussed and remembered figures in contemporary Indian cinema.
Remembering The Life Beyond The Headlines
On Saturday, his sister Shweta Singh Kirti shared an emotional tribute on social media, reflecting on the qualities that defined her brother’s life and the legacy she believes continues to live on through those inspired by him.
Accompanying her post were several photographs of Sushant, including an AI-generated image depicting him as Lord Ram. But rather than revisiting the circumstances of his death, Kirti’s message focused on the way he lived.
“Six years… time has passed, yet some souls transcend time itself,” she wrote.
“When I think of my brother today, I don’t dwell on how he left, but rather on how he lived. I remember his childlike curiosity and his endless fascination with life, the stars, the universe, and the mysteries of the human mind.”
A Mind Drawn To The Stars And Big Questions
The tribute paints a portrait familiar to many of Sushant’s admirers — a young actor whose interests extended far beyond cinema. Throughout his career, he frequently spoke about astronomy, physics, technology and self-learning, cultivating an image that set him apart in Bollywood.
Kirti also recalled what she described as her brother’s deep respect for people from all walks of life.
“I remember a heart that treated everyone with respect, regardless of who they were. I remember someone who taught us that success holds no meaning without kindness,” she wrote.

A Legacy Kept Alive By Millions
Over the years since Sushant’s death, his fan base has remained remarkably active, keeping his memory alive through online communities, charitable initiatives and annual tributes. For many supporters, the actor’s journey — from engineering student to television star and eventually one of Hindi cinema’s leading actors — remains a source of inspiration.
Kirti’s message reflected on that continuing influence.
“Love does not abide by the rules of time,” she wrote. “A physical form may vanish from our sight, but the impact of a beautiful soul continues to ripple through countless lives.”
From Grief To Inspiration
She argued that the most meaningful way to honour her brother was not through mourning but by embracing the values she believed he embodied: compassion, curiosity, learning and hope.
“Whenever someone chooses compassion over anger, knowledge over ignorance, hope over despair, or love over judgment, a small part of the values my brother stood for lives on,” the note said.
The tribute concluded with a message directed both at Sushant’s admirers and at anyone seeking inspiration from his life.
“Be curious, be kind, keep learning, dream fearlessly, and never let the world harden your heart. The true measure of a life is not its length, but how many hearts it awakened. And by that measure, my brother is still very much alive.”
The Case That Captivated A Nation
Sushant’s death in June 2020 triggered intense public scrutiny, widespread media coverage and multiple investigations. His then partner, actor Rhea Chakraborty, faced allegations of abetment to suicide, which she consistently denied.
In May 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a closure report in the case, ruling out foul play and effectively giving Chakraborty a clean chit.
Yet six years on, for many who followed Sushant’s journey, the focus increasingly appears to be shifting away from the controversies surrounding his death and back towards the life he lived — a life his family says continues to inspire millions long after his passing.
