Patna: Forty parks in Patna are set to undergo major renovations to become models of water conservation and urban greenery under the Amrit 2.0 scheme. The Urban Development and Housing Department has selected these parks to not only enhance recreational spaces but also strengthen the city’s environmental infrastructure. Housing Board land in Kankarbagh and PRDA land in Sri Krishna Puri and Rajendra Nagar, along with Pataliputra Colony Park and other government lands, have been identified for this initiative. The plan includes constructing ponds within park premises for water storage and planting various species to improve biodiversity and air quality. The renovated parks will feature benches, swings for children, open gyms, fountains, and decorative lighting to ensure usability during evenings. Officials said the move aims to create accessible public spaces that also address water conservation needs as the city grapples with erratic rainfall and rising temperatures.
