Motihari: A teacher at Madhya Vidyalaya Jamua, located in the Dhaka block of Motihari, sparked outrage after teaching alcohol-related idioms to fourth-grade students. The controversy arose after a photo of the blackboard, showing phrases such as “hand and foot swelling means not getting alcohol on time” and “heart cooling means a peg going down the throat,” went viral. This incident has raised concerns, particularly in Bihar, where a strict alcohol ban is in effect.
District Education Officer Sanjeev Kumar swiftly addressed the situation, demanding an explanation from the teacher, Vinita Kumari. According to officials, the teacher has apologized over the phone and is expected to submit a formal statement. Dhaka Block Education Officer Akhilesh Kumar also confirmed the incident and requested an official explanation from Kumari.
Sulekha Jha, the school’s principal, expressed regret, stating that such lessons were entirely inappropriate for young students. She assured that an investigation is underway, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on its findings.
