Patna: The political atmosphere in Bihar has heated up after Tejashwi Yadav’s grand promise of government jobs for every family. His elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav — founder of the Janshakti Janata Dal and son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav — took a swipe at the announcement, remarking that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) should first form the government before making such promises.
Tej Pratap, while addressing the media, said, “The RJD should first form the government. It’s a democracy; whoever wants to go wherever they wish, they can go.” He also confirmed his intention to contest the upcoming elections from Mahua, a seat he has represented earlier.
Speaking about his own party’s plans, Tej Pratap added, “A big announcement will be made the day after tomorrow. We will reveal the names of our candidates.”
Tejashwi Promises Government Jobs for Every Family
Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, made headlines on Thursday after declaring that his party would enact a law to ensure that every family in Bihar has at least one member in a government job.
“There will be a renaissance of employment in Bihar. Every family that does not have a government job will be compulsorily provided with one through a new law. Within 20 days of forming the government, we will pass this law, and within 20 months, every household will have a government job,” Tejashwi said.
He reminded the public of his earlier 2020 election promise to provide 10 lakh jobs and took a jibe at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “At that time, the Chief Minister asked, ‘Where will the money come from? Will he get it from his father?’ Even after two years of forming their government, no one has received employment.”
‘Victory Will Be Celebrated by Providing Jobs’
Tejashwi further said, “When people in Bihar get jobs, every need will be met. For two decades, the NDA spread fear of insecurity and unemployment in every household. Now, we will provide jobs to every family and celebrate victory by ensuring employment and development.”
He outlined his broader vision for the state — setting up industries, IT parks, educational cities, and promoting agriculture and dairy-based industries to create sustainable growth. “This is not just my promise; it is my vow,” he added.
‘My Karma Bihar, My Dharma Bihari’
Declaring his emotional commitment to the state, Tejashwi said, “If our government is formed, the victory celebration will be marked by government jobs in every household. Every family will have direct participation in governance. Through my work, I will prove that my karma is Bihar and my dharma is Bihari. We will give Bihar a truthful and honest government.”
PK Questions Tejashwi’s Job Promise
Meanwhile, political strategist and Jan Suraaj leader Prashant Kishor (PK) questioned Tejashwi’s employment pledge, calling it unrealistic. “Tejashwi Yadav is talking about giving government jobs to 35 million people, whereas there are only 26.5 million government employees in the entire country. The people of Bihar understand who is lying and who is telling the truth. This time, they will vote for their children’s future,” Kishor said.
With Bihar’s political temperature rising, Tejashwi’s promise of “government jobs for every household” has not only triggered debate among voters but also widened the public rift between the Yadav brothers, setting the stage for a high-voltage election season.
