Patna: The first birthday of Iraj Lalu Yadav, son of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and grandson of RJD Supremo Lalu Yadav, is being celebrated at Ragini Villa in Ghaziabad.
The residence belongs to Lalu Yadav’s daughter Ragini Yadav and son-in-law Rahul Yadav. Members of the Lalu family reached Ghaziabad on Sunday ahead of the celebrations.
According to party sources, invitations for the event have been extended to several senior opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal. There is also speculation over the possible presence of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Tejashwi Yadav’s elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, is also expected to attend the celebration.
Senior Leaders and Party Workers Participate
Apart from family members, several RJD leaders, including MLAs and MPs, have reportedly been invited to the gathering.
Meanwhile, RJD workers at the party office in Patna celebrated Iraj’s birthday by cutting a cake and distributing sweets among supporters.
First Major Gathering After Bihar Poll Defeat
The birthday event is being viewed as the Lalu family’s first major social and political gathering following the RJD-led alliance’s defeat in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
Political observers see the event as an opportunity for Lalu Yadav to showcase continued coordination within the opposition camp and reaffirm his political influence in Bihar.
Attention on Rohini Acharya
Considerable attention has also focused on Rohini Acharya amid reports of internal tensions within the family after the Assembly election results.
Following the defeat, Rohini Acharya had publicly raised concerns regarding Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, both considered close to Tejashwi Yadav. Her remarks had triggered speculation about differences within the family and the party leadership.
Sources said Lalu Yadav personally reached out to family members to invite them to the event.
At Patna airport earlier this year, Rohini Acharya had made emotional remarks alleging mistreatment and distancing within the family. The birthday celebration is now being closely watched for signs of reconciliation among family members.
Jungle Safari Theme for Celebration
Preparations for the birthday celebration have been made on a large scale at Ragini Villa.
The venue has been decorated around a ‘Jungle Safari’ theme, with a separate entertainment area arranged for children. Organisers have also prepared a menu featuring Bihari and North Indian dishes.
Separate dining and interaction spaces have reportedly been created for VIP guests, while cultural and family-oriented programmes are expected to continue into the evening.
