Patna: A new development has emerged in the alleged theft case linked to the official residence of Tej Pratap Yadav, with the family of a key witness claiming they were threatened and pressured not to testify.
The complaint has been lodged at the Gardanibagh police station in Patna, officials confirmed.
Theft Case Background
The case originates from an FIR filed by Tej Pratap Yadav at the Sachivalaya police station, alleging theft of approximately Rs 20 lakh in cash and other valuables from his official residence.
In his complaint, he named his former personal assistant Motilal Rai as the prime accused and stated that a driver and another associate had allegedly seen him fleeing with the items.
Allegations of Threats to Witness Family
Anil Kumar, the driver and a witness in the case, was reportedly away from home when the incident occurred, according to his wife Ranju Devi.
She alleged that during the night, Preeti Bharti, wife of accused Motilal Rai, along with her sister Komal and father Bhushan Rai, visited their residence.
Ranju Devi stated in her complaint that the group pressured the family not to testify. She further alleged they warned that if Anil Kumar gave evidence, the entire family would be abducted through a person referred to as “Akash”.
Police Complaint and Security Concerns
Following the alleged incident, Anil Kumar has sought police protection, stating apprehension of harm to his family.
Police officials said the complaint has been received and necessary steps are under consideration.
Parallel Complaint from Accused Side
In a separate development, the wife of Motilal Rai has also approached police, stating that her husband has been missing for several days and has not been reachable.
She expressed concern over his safety and sought intervention, alleging uncertainty about his whereabouts.
Ongoing Investigation
With complaints now emerging from both sides, the case has widened beyond the initial theft allegation, bringing issues of witness protection and missing person concerns into focus.
Police are yet to issue a detailed public statement on the status of the investigation.
