Patna: Bihar’s Former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav offered a rare glimpse into the personal dynamics of the state’s young political leaders. Playfully advising Union Minister Chirag Paswan to tie the knot, Yadav said, “Loneliness will kill you, Chirag bhaiya. You should get married now.”
Yadav’s remarks underscore the increasingly prominent role of millennial leaders in Bihar politics, many of whom maintain cordial personal relationships despite sharp ideological differences.
Brotherhood beyond politics
Noting the friendly rapport among the state’s rising political figures, Yadav highlighted that behind the scenes, camaraderie often trumps rivalry. “Even though we may disagree politically, we still refer to each other as elder and younger brothers,” he said.
Reflections on fatherhood
Opening up about his personal life, Yadav reflected on how fatherhood has transformed him. “A lot has changed. Sometimes I think, if I had married five years earlier, I would have had more time with my children,” he said. His wife, Rajshree Yadav, recently gave birth to their second child.
When asked whether Rajshree would enter electoral politics in 2025, Yadav dismissed the possibility. “Our son is just two months old, and our daughter is only two-and-a-half. We’re already very busy. At least let the mother have time to raise the children properly,” he stated.
Praise for Chirag and Nishant
When asked to compare Chirag Paswan and Nishant Kumar, son of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Yadav was diplomatic. He acknowledged greater personal interaction with Paswan, calling their bond stronger, but also had kind words for Nishant. “Nishant ji is a very good person — humble, straightforward and practical,” he noted.
