Bihar Elections: Tejashwi Yadav Discloses Assets Worth Over Rs 8 Crore in Poll Affidavit

From Bank Deposits to Gold and Unsecured Loans: A deep dive into the net worth of the former Deputy CM and his immediate family as he files nomination from Raghopur.

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and current MLA Tejashwi Prasad Yadav formally submitted his nomination papers for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections from the Raghopur constituency on Wednesday. The nomination ceremony, attended by RJD chief Lalu Prasad, mother Rabri Devi, and numerous party leaders, officially put to rest speculation that he might contest from a second seat, such as Phulparas.

As mandated by election commission’s norms, the accompanying affidavit provides a detailed breakdown of the assets belonging to Tejashwi and his immediate family members as of March 31, 2025.

Tejashwi’s Personal Financial Portfolio

The affidavit filed by the RJD leader details significant movable and immovable assets, alongside substantial financial liabilities.

Tejashwi Yadav’s Assets Breakdown:

  • Total Movable Assets: The total value of his liquid assets stands at Rs 6,12,48,877 (over Rs 6.12 crore).
  • Total Immovable Assets: This category, which includes land and houses, is valued at Rs 1,88,50,000 (Rs 1.88 crore).
  • Bank Deposits: His bank deposits, held across accounts including SBI and HDFC, exceed Rs 1.25 crore.
  • Cash in Hand: He reported holding Rs 1,50,000 in cash.
  • Unsecured Loans: A significant disclosure is the Rs 4,40,50,000 (Rs 4.40 crore) reported as unsecured loans extended to various companies.
  • Investments & Gold: Yadav holds shares and mutual funds worth Rs 4,88,000. His gold holdings amount to 200 grams, valued at Rs 17,13,000.
  • Other Assets: This includes a pistol worth Rs 1,05,014 and machinery and other items valued at over Rs 20 lakh.

Assets of Immediate Family Members

The affidavit also provides a detailed summary of the assets owned by his wife and two children.

Rajshree Yadav (Wife) Rs 59,69,286 (approx. Rs 59.69 Lakh) 480 grams of gold (Rs 41,11,200), 2 kg of silver (Rs 1,70,000), and bank deposits over Rs 6 lakh.
Katyayani (Daughter) Rs 31,70,649 (approx. ₹31.70 Lakh) 200 grams of gold (Rs 17,13,000), Rs 8 lakh in Fixed Deposits, and Rs 5,47,649 in bank deposits.
Iraj Lalu Yadav (Son) Rs 8,99,000 (approx. Rs 8.99 Lakh) 100 grams of gold (Rs 8,56,500) and 500 grams of silver (Rs 42,500).

Liabilities and Disputes

The RJD leader’s total liabilities are divided into bank loans and pending government dues.

  • Bank Loans: The total outstanding bank loans (including HDFC and SBI) amount to Rs 55,52,051. A portion of these loans are jointly held with family members.
  • Income Tax Dispute: The affidavit notes a pending Income Tax dispute amount of Rs 1,35,73,515 (over Rs 1.35 crore), which is currently under appeal from previous years.
  • Other Dues: No outstanding government dues were reported for electricity, water, or rent.
