Patna: With campaigning for the Bankipur Assembly by-election entering its final stretch, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has intensified the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s campaign by leading back-to-back roadshows in support of Mahagathbandhan candidate Rekha Gupta.
The first roadshow was held on Monday, with another scheduled for Tuesday, the final day of campaigning before voters head to the polls on July 30.
Roadshow Covers Key Parts Of Bankipur
Monday’s campaign began from the party’s election office in Mithapur and passed through several neighbourhoods, including Chandpur Bela, Sipara, Postal Park, Chiraiyatand, Goriyatoli, Pirmuhani and Lohanipur.
The convoy later travelled through Sahitya Sammelan, Dariyapur, Khetan Market and Birla Mandir before concluding at Sabzibagh in the evening.
During the roadshow, Tejashwi greeted residents and appealed to voters to support the Mahagathbandhan candidate in the by-election.
A large number of party workers and supporters accompanied the procession, with RJD leaders describing the event as part of the party’s final mobilisation effort.
Another Roadshow Scheduled Before Polling
The RJD has planned a second roadshow for July 28, the last day permitted for election campaigning.
According to the party, the procession will begin from Old Hartali Mor and pass through Boring Road, Rajapur Pul, Police Line Intersection, Lodipur, China Kothi, Income Tax Golambar and Kidwaipuri, before concluding near Chakram Devi Temple.
The party hopes the consecutive roadshows will strengthen its outreach to urban voters ahead of polling.
Civic Issues Dominate Campaign
The Bankipur Assembly constituency, one of Patna’s prominent urban seats, has witnessed campaigning centred on issues including employment, infrastructure, roads, waterlogging and civic amenities.
The Mahagathbandhan says it is seeking to connect directly with voters on these local concerns while simultaneously strengthening booth-level organisation ahead of polling day.
With campaigning set to end on July 28, political parties have entered the final phase of voter outreach before ballots are cast on July 30.
