Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over their handling of Bihar’s economic development and the upcoming state assembly elections.
Addressing the media on Thursday, Yadav highlighted what he described as the central and state governments’ failure to attract industry and create employment in the state. He cited Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s acknowledgment that land shortages were preventing industrial growth in Bihar, and accused the government of using election handouts to distract voters.
“They only want votes from Bihar and industries in Gujarat. The people of Bihar will not forget this,” Yadav said. “We have to take Bihar forward, not keep it backward. This election is an opportunity to put Bihar on the path of development.”
Yadav criticised the current government for distributing Rs 10,000 directly into the accounts of around one million women on October 24, in the middle of the election period. “Where is the Election Commission’s oversight? How can money be distributed during elections without its permission?” he questioned, describing the move as an attempt to buy votes.
The RJD leader emphasised that Bihar’s youth face limited employment opportunities, forcing many to seek work elsewhere, and accused the BJP-led government of ignoring industrial growth and job creation for two decades. “Employment opportunities are scarce, yet the government is giving money as a bribe during elections. This is morally wrong,” he said.
Yadav urged voters to choose development over short-term incentives. “Our youth, women, and farmers deserve better. If these people come to power again, Bihar will fall further behind. The people of Bihar are intelligent and will make the right choice for their rights and future,” he added.
