Patna: Bihar’s political temperature rose sharply on Saturday as RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav accused the Election Commission of India of turning a blind eye to serious election violations and violence during the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections 2025.
Referring to the recent murder of Dularchand Yadav in Mokama, Tejashwi questioned why the main accused was still roaming free. “An FIR has been filed, yet the accused moves around with a convoy of 40 people, armed with guns and ammunition. The murder took place in broad daylight, and no action has been taken. Where is the Election Commission? Has it died?” he asked at a rally in Patna.
Tejashwi alleged that the accused, linked to the ruling alliance, continued to campaign publicly despite being named in the FIR. “Does the Election Commission act only against opposition parties? Is there no law for those in power?” he said, calling the Commission’s silence “dangerous for democracy.”
The RJD leader also raised concerns about cash distribution during the polls, claiming Rs. 10,000 was being handed out to voters despite the Model Code of Conduct being in force. “Money is being distributed openly, and the Election Commission is nowhere to be seen. Criminals are roaming free, and the people of Bihar are watching everything,” he said.
Tejashwi Yadav further asserted that public anger would reflect in the results. “This time, the people of Bihar will throw out the BJP–NDA government,” he said, positioning himself as the chief ministerial candidate of the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan).
The Dularchand murder case, which occurred on October 30 in Mokama, has sparked major political outrage. The RJD has accused Bahubali candidate Anant Singh of involvement, while the Election Commission has sought a report from the DGP of Bihar. Meanwhile, RJD MP Manoj Jha has formally lodged a complaint with the Commission over alleged vote-buying incidents involving cash handouts.
