Patna : Eid ul-Fitr was celebrated with fervour across India, and in Patna, thousands of worshippers gathered at Gandhi Maidan to offer the special Eid prayers. As in previous years, the city witnessed its largest congregation at this historic ground, where an estimated 20,000 to 25,000 people assembled to perform the namaz.
Among the attendees was Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who extended his greetings on the occasion. In a message to the community, CM Nitish said, “The prayers offered by the devout during the holy month of Ramadan will bring peace and prosperity not only to their families but also to the state and the country. I hope that harmony and brotherhood continue to flourish in society.”
Smooth Arrangements and Tight Security
The Eid prayers at Gandhi Maidan were organised by the Eidan Committee, which has been overseeing these arrangements for 24 years. Mahmood Alam, the committee’s president, emphasised the importance of conducting Eid and Bakrid prayers in open spaces. “It is prescribed in our religion that these prayers should be offered in open ground, which is why Gandhi Maidan has become the centre of this tradition,” he said.
To ensure a seamless experience for the worshippers, loudspeakers were installed across the ground, allowing the Imam’s voice to reach everyone clearly. Adequate seating arrangements were also made, and strict security protocols were in place to manage the large crowd.
A Day of Blessings and Gratitude
In his address, CM Nitish highlighted the spiritual significance of Eid, describing it as “a day of reward” when God bestows blessings on His faithful. “May this auspicious day bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all,” he added.
