Patna: Police in Bihar have launched a murder investigation after the body of a 15-year-old boy was discovered in a village well, with his mother accusing three of his friends of strangling him to death.
The victim, identified as Lavkush, also known as Chintu, went missing on Sunday evening after leaving his home in Suitha village, under the jurisdiction of Parsa Bazar police station in Phulwarisharif. His body was recovered from the village well the following evening, said Roshan Kumar, the station in-charge.
According to police, preliminary inquiries suggest that Chintu had been embroiled in a dispute with local youths three days earlier, during which he was threatened. Investigators believe he was strangled with a towel before his body was dumped in the well.
The boy’s mother, Chanmanti Devi, lodged a complaint naming three accused: Sahil Kumar, Prem Kumar and Chintu Kumar, son of Jitendra Ram. Police have begun forensic examinations and said further investigation is under way.
