Patna: The Bihar government has revived plans to develop dedicated traffic parks across all districts of the state, with Patna set to host one near the JP Ganga Path. The state transport department has directed the Patna district administration to identify land for the facility, with construction expected to begin within the current financial year.
The initiative aims to improve road safety awareness by providing interactive education on traffic rules. The proposed traffic parks will include miniature roads, foot-over bridges, dummy buildings, and audiovisual aids such as projectors and sound systems. These features are designed to offer children, young people, and the general public a hands-on understanding of road signs and traffic regulations.
Initially, the department had considered incorporating traffic education features into existing parks in Patna, following models implemented in cities like Delhi. However, the plan has since evolved to establish standalone traffic parks to ensure dedicated space and facilities.
Officials emphasise the growing urgency for such awareness campaigns, citing a rapid increase in the number of vehicles and road infrastructure across Bihar.
