Patna: The newly appointed United States Consul General in Kolkata, Kathy Giles-Diaz, met Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav in Patna on Monday, with both sides discussing opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Bihar and the United States across a range of sectors.
The meeting, held at the Deputy Chief Minister’s office, focused on economic growth, development initiatives and potential areas of technical collaboration aligned with Bihar’s evolving needs.
Discussions On Bihar’s Development
During the meeting, Yadav briefed the Consul General on Bihar’s historical significance and ongoing development projects across the state.
According to officials, the discussions also covered Bihar’s economic priorities, infrastructure development and efforts to attract investment and generate employment.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the state’s development agenda and outlined initiatives aimed at accelerating growth and improving public services.
Focus On Economic And Technical Cooperation
A significant portion of the discussions centred on identifying new avenues for cooperation between Bihar and the United States.
Both sides exchanged views on economic development and explored possibilities for technical collaboration in sectors relevant to Bihar’s growth ambitions.
Officials said the interaction was aimed at strengthening dialogue and fostering closer engagement between the state government and the US Consulate.

US Consulate Delegation Accompanies Consul General
Giles-Diaz was accompanied by a three-member delegation from the US Consulate General in Kolkata, including Sangita Dey Chanda, an economic affairs specialist; Nayantara Shroff, a press and media assistant; and Aniruddha Ghosh, a security liaison officer.
The delegation also reviewed areas of mutual interest and discussed the regional activities and priorities of the US Consulate.
Exchange Of Appreciation
At the conclusion of the meeting, Yadav thanked the Consul General and her delegation for visiting Bihar and engaging with the state government on development-related issues.
The Consul General, in turn, expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended by the Bihar government and commended the state’s vision for development.
Rachna Patil, Secretary (Expenditure) in Bihar’s Finance Department, was also present during the meeting.
