Hajipur: A late-night drama unfolded in Rasalpur village under Chandpura police station limits when a woman and her alleged lover were caught in an objectionable condition by her younger son. The incident took place around 11 pm on Saturday, triggering chaos in the village.
According to locals, the woman’s 10-year-old son accidentally woke up and saw his mother with another man in a separate room. He raised an alarm, following which the family members and neighbors rushed in. The duo was found together and was immediately overpowered by villagers, who tied their hands and feet with ropes and kept them confined for nearly two hours before informing the police.
Villagers Humiliate Lover
The situation quickly escalated as angry villagers gathered. In a form of punishment, they forcibly shaved off half of the young man’s hair before handing him over to the police.
The woman, 40, has been married for 28 years and is the mother of five children — three daughters and two sons. Her husband has been working in Tamil Nadu for the last 10 years and was not at home when the incident occurred.
The accused youth, identified as Ranjan Rai (32), son of Jalmesh Rai of Vabhangawan village, got married two years ago and has a two-month-old daughter. Villagers alleged that the woman and Ranjan had been in a relationship for nearly three years.
Affair Admitted Before Villagers
During questioning by locals, Ranjan allegedly admitted that he had been in a relationship with the woman for the past three years. “Yes, we were seeing each other for a long time,” he reportedly confessed before being handed over to the police.
The woman, however, claimed that Ranjan had only come to her house to collect money she had borrowed from him.
Attempt to Strangle Alleged
Adding another twist, the woman’s brother-in-law Mithilesh Kumar alleged that when the boy and his grandfather tried to catch Ranjan, he and the woman attempted to strangle them. “My bhabhi and Ranjan tried to kill the nephew and father by pressing their necks. It was only when we raised an alarm that people gathered and overpowered them,” he said.
Police Action
Chandpura police station in-charge Abhishek Kumar confirmed the incident. “Both the woman and the youth have been taken into custody. Their statements are being recorded. Further action will be taken based on the investigation,” he said.
At present, both remain under police questioning, while the incident has sparked widespread discussion in the village, with locals demanding strict action.
