West Champaran: Tourism services at Valmiki Tiger Reserve in West Champaran, Bihar, have been suspended for three months from July 1 to September 30 due to the monsoon season. Officials said jungle safaris, boat safaris, and cycle safaris will remain closed to protect both wildlife and visitors.
The breeding season for animals like tigers and leopards occurs during the rains, increasing chances of dangerous encounters. Waterlogging on jungle roads and rising water levels in the Gandak river also pose risks for safaris and boating activities.
Forest Conservator and Director Neshamani K said tourism services are suspended annually during the rains, adding, “After the monsoon, grass and bushes along safari routes will be cleared to improve views for tourists.”
Tourism will resume after September 30 once the weather stabilises and maintenance work is completed across safari routes.
