Patna: The alleged attack on MLA Vinay Bihari’s vehicle was raised in the Bihar Assembly on Wednesday during the ongoing monsoon session, with the legislator demanding strict action against those responsible.
Bihari alleged that his car was targeted while he was travelling to the Assembly and that unidentified anti-social elements damaged the vehicle’s windows and vandalised it.
MLA Raises Security Concerns In House
Raising the matter in the Assembly, Vinay Bihari said incidents affecting the safety of elected representatives were a serious concern.
He demanded that the accused be identified and face legal action. The issue triggered a heated exchange between members of the ruling and opposition benches.
Speaker Intervenes Amid Uproar
Following the allegations, members from both sides presented their views, leading to disruption in the House.
Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar intervened and appealed to members to maintain calm. He said the matter was serious and assured that appropriate action would be taken.
Despite the Speaker’s intervention, arguments continued for some time, with ruling and opposition members exchanging allegations.
Questions Raised Over Security Arrangements
The incident also led to questions over security arrangements around the Assembly premises and for public representatives.
The Assembly proceedings were later adjourned until Thursday amid continued disruptions. Further action by the government on the alleged incident and security concerns is awaited.
