Patna: BJP MP Vivek Thakur met Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary in Patna on Sunday and submitted a proposal seeking the naming of the upcoming Bihta Airport after Swami Sahajanand Saraswati, a key figure in India’s farmers’ movement and freedom struggle.
Proposal On Airport Naming
During the meeting, Thakur said naming the airport after Swami Sahajanand Saraswati would honour his contribution as a prominent farmer-labour leader and freedom fighter. The proposal was submitted as part of a broader discussion on development priorities in Bihar.
The proposed airport at Bihta, near Patna, is one of the state’s major infrastructure projects. The naming request has been placed before the state government for consideration, though no official decision has been announced.
Demand For Model Villages
Thakur also urged the state government to develop the birthplaces of Bihar’s eminent personalities as Adarsh Grams or model villages. He said such a move could preserve the legacy of notable figures while improving infrastructure and services in those areas.
According to the MP, the initiative would help younger generations understand the social and political contributions of Bihar’s historical personalities, while also supporting local development.
Discussion On Nawada Projects
The meeting also covered ongoing and proposed development works in the Nawada Lok Sabha constituency. Thakur discussed projects under implementation and sought support for future works in the constituency.
Following the meeting, Thakur said Bihar was moving towards stronger development under the state government’s current leadership. The chief minister’s office has not yet issued a formal statement on the airport naming proposal.
