Patna: Students studying in Classes 9 to 12 at 20 government schools in Patna district will soon have access to vocational education as part of an initiative to strengthen job-oriented learning in government schools.
The programme will offer vocational courses in Web Development, Apparel and Home Furnishing, Electronics and Hardware, Agriculture, Plumbing, and IT/ITES. Each selected school will offer two vocational courses, and students will be able to choose one based on their interests.
Focus on Employment-Oriented Education
District Education Officer Yogesh Kumar said the vocational courses are intended to improve students’ employment prospects across multiple sectors, with particular emphasis on opportunities in the information technology industry.
The initiative is aimed at equipping students with practical skills alongside their regular academic curriculum, helping prepare them for higher education as well as future careers.
Schools Selected Across the District
The vocational education programme has been introduced in 20 government schools across Patna district. The selected institutions include seven schools in Patna Sadar, two each in Phulwarisharif and Fatuha, and one each in Maner, Athmalgola, Bihta, Pandarak, Barh, Belchi, Paliganj and Punpun.

- LNR Senior Secondary School, Pandarak

Students enrolled in the programme will be able to pursue vocational training in one of the following fields:

Education officials said the introduction of vocational education is intended to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements by providing students with practical, career-oriented skills from the secondary school level.
