Patna: A 20-year-old woman has accused staff at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) of molesting her during treatment, with her family alleging that hospital security personnel subsequently mistreated them.
The incident occurred on Friday night when the woman, a resident of Salimpur Ahara, visited the emergency ward of PMCH with her family after experiencing breathing difficulties. Doctors instructed her to undergo an electrocardiogram (ECG), during which she alleges that a staff member, identified as Avinash Kumar, touched her inappropriately under the guise of conducting the examination.
According to the woman, repeated attempts by the staff member prompted her to raise an alarm. Her family rushed to the scene, creating a commotion, after which hospital guards allegedly pushed and mistreated them. The accused staff member reportedly fled the hospital following the incident.
The victim has lodged a formal complaint at Pirbahor police station, and authorities have registered a case. A senior officer confirmed that police are investigating the matter, including questioning hospital staff and reviewing CCTV footage.
