Patna: The Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for Wednesday across 26 districts of Bihar, warning of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds up to 40 km/h.
Officials have urged people, especially farmers, to exercise caution and avoid working in open areas during lightning activity. Despite the alert, the state did not record any rainfall in the last 24 hours.
However, heavy rainfall in neighboring Nepal has raised alarm across several districts of North Bihar. Many rivers, including the Kosi and its tributaries, are flowing close to the danger mark, posing a flood threat to nearby areas. Six blocks of Supaul district are reportedly inundated, with nearly 5,000 houses affected. In Madhubani, around one lakh residents are facing difficulties due to floodwaters.
Similarly, in East Champaran, rising water levels in Nepal’s Sariswa River have caused flood-like conditions in Raxaul, Ramgarhwa, Sugauli, Semra, and Motihari. Several low-lying areas are already waterlogged, disrupting daily life.
