Patna: The monsoon continues to remain active in Bihar, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert for rain in 19 districts on Saturday. Moderate to heavy showers are expected in many areas, accompanied by winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph.
According to the Meteorological Center, the remaining 19 districts are likely to witness normal weather conditions. In the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded in Patna, Kishanganj, Nalanda, and Buxar. In Patna, a hot and humid day gave way to evening showers, bringing some relief to residents. However, in Vaishali district, a woman lost her life after being struck by lightning.
Why is the monsoon still active?
Meteorologists explained that while the southwest monsoon usually begins to withdraw by late September, this year it has remained active in Bihar. Conditions are currently favorable for withdrawal from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. However, due to prevailing humidity and wind patterns, Bihar is likely to continue experiencing monsoon activity until October 1.
Patna weather forecast
For the capital city, light to moderate rainfall is expected over the next two days. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 32°C, while the minimum could be about 26°C. Though the showers will provide intermittent relief, residents may continue to experience discomfort due to high humidity levels.
