Jamui: Thirteen people have been arrested after a police team was surrounded and attacked by villagers during a raid on illegal liquor production in Kaduatari village, Jamui district. The accused, including six women, were paraded limping at the police station following the arrests.
The incident occurred when officers were acting on information from the excise department about the production of large quantities of country liquor. As the team raided a house and destroyed the liquor, villagers reportedly gathered, beat the police personnel, damaged a vehicle, and attempted to seize weapons.
All male and female officers suffered injuries during the confrontation. The police have registered an FIR against 20 named and 20–25 unidentified suspects. The arrested include Rajendra Hansda, Naresh Tudu, Sakaldev Hansda, Rajkumar Tudu, Virendra Hansda, Lakhan Tudu, Dinesh Soren, Lalita Devi, Soni Devi, Manju Devi, Shaili Devi, Rupa Devi, and Malti Devi.
The police are continuing raids to apprehend additional suspects, and judicial custody has been sought for those already arrested. Local leaders condemned the attack, calling it an unfortunate escalation of violence.
