Patna: Preparations are under way for the 359th Prakash Parv of the tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh, scheduled to take place from December 25 to 27 at Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib. Organisers say more than 100,000 devotees from across India and overseas are expected to attend the celebrations in Patna City.
Accommodation for pilgrims will be available both online and offline, with bookings opening on December 20 and continuing until January 5. A toll-free helpline, 18008918967, has been set up to support booking queries and accommodation arrangements. According to committee officials, extensive preparations are being made for lodging, food distribution, transport and security.
Jagjot Singh Sohi, chairman of the Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Managing Committee, said after a review meeting that both the Bihar government and the Sikh community were working together to ensure smooth arrangements. “Full support is being provided to make the Prakash Parv grand and convenient for all devotees,” he said.
The celebrations will begin with a 14-day Prabhat Pheri (early-morning devotional procession) starting on December 15, culminating in a large procession on December 25. A Nagar Kirtan is also scheduled for December 26, starting at noon from Gaighat Gurudwara, with thousands expected to take part.
The main event will be held on December 27 at Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, marking the Prakashotsav with prayers, kirtan and religious ceremonies.
Tejinder Singh Bagga, coordinator of Nagar Kirtan and Prabhat Pheri, shared the route plan for the processions, which will pass through various historic gurdwaras and major roads across the city between December 15 and 25.
With devotional processions, Gurbani and celebrations set to fill the streets of Patna, the managing committee has urged devotees to secure their accommodation in advance. “We request sangat to complete bookings early to avoid inconvenience,” officials said.
