Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav, eldest son of Lalu Prasad and leader of the Janshakti Janata Dal, has lodged a formal complaint against former IPS officer Amitabh Kumar Das at the Secretariat Police Station in Patna, citing defamation and offensive remarks made on a digital news platform.
In a social media post on Thursday, Tej Pratap accused Das of making “baseless, fabricated and unfounded statements” aimed at tarnishing his image. He described the comments on his personal life as “extremely sad and unforgivable.”

“This is the same former IPS officer whose name was mentioned in the Shabnam case,” Tej Pratap wrote, emphasising that the remarks targeted private family matters. “I have demanded appropriate action against this arrogant former officer.”
The controversy arose after Das made sarcastic comments about Tej Pratap’s personal life during a YouTube interview. When asked where the politician would live after vacating his bungalow, Das remarked: “Hey, where will he live? He has two wives…both are in-laws’ homes; he will become a live-in son-in-law there.” Das referred to Tej Pratap’s alleged marriages to Aishwarya Rai and Anushka Yadav.
Das also questioned the rationale for Tej Pratap’s Y-category security, suggesting that it was excessive given his lack of experience in law enforcement or counter-terror operations. “Think for yourself, on one hand the government says you are in danger, so you are given Y-category security. On the other, they are making you homeless,” Das said.
The former IPS officer further criticised Tej Pratap’s political record, referencing his defeat in Mahua and the elevation of his opponent, Sanjay Singh, to ministerial rank. He added that family reconciliation, particularly from his spouse Rohini, would be advisable in such situations.
Das also commented on other controversies involving Tej Pratap, including his treatment of journalists and past conduct during Holi festivities, describing them as examples raising questions about the politician’s behaviour.
