Patna: With Bihar’s assembly elections heating up, Bhojpuri actor-turned-politician Khesari Lal Yadav, contesting from Chhapra on an RJD ticket, made an ambitious promise: “We will provide not two crore but at least 50 lakh jobs.”
Speaking to reporters, Yadav took aim at the NDA government, accusing it of abandoning the youth.
“At least we talk about jobs,” he said. “The NDA doesn’t even discuss employment anymore.”
Despite his sharp criticism, Yadav expressed partial admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I respect the Prime Minister,” he said, “but why hasn’t his vision reached Bihar? The NDA has been in power at the Centre for 15 years and in Bihar for 20, yet there are no factories and no jobs for our youth.”
Khesari Lal further attacked the NDA for prioritising Gujarat over Bihar in terms of industrialisation.
“You gave us trains, but where are the factories? Gujarat has become a paradise—if you make Bihar even half of that, we’ll be grateful,” he said.
Calling for change, the RJD candidate added that after two decades of NDA rule, there has been “no real transformation.” He vowed to fulfil the trust of Chhapra’s voters and focus on local development if elected.
