Patna Women's College Hosts Christmas Milan with Transgenders and Rickshaw Pullers

Patna: Patna Women’s College celebrated its annual event, Christmas Milan, on Saturday, bringing together 90 transgenders and 140 rickshaw pullers for a heartfelt celebration on its campus. The event, jointly organized by the College administration and the Alumni Association of Patna Women’s College, marked a joyous occasion ahead of the Christmas and New Year vacations.

The program began with an interaction with transgender guests at the Basketball Court at 10:15 AM, followed by a meeting with rickshaw pullers at 11:30 AM. Addressing the gathering, the college principal extended a warm welcome, expressing her delight at hosting the guests. The event included the distribution of blankets and sarees and featured engaging activities such as songs and games facilitated by Manjula Sushila, Head of the Department of Hindi.

The celebration also included carol singing, organized by Sister Celine Crasta, Head of the Department of History, and Sister Nelsa from the Department of English, along with the Department of Education. Guests were served refreshments, and prizes were distributed by the college principal and Ameeta Jaiswal, Head of the Department of Philosophy.

Moderation duties were carried out by Vinita Priyedarshi, Head of the Department of Political Science, Aarti Kumari, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, and Ragini Ranjan, Assistant Professor of Sociology. Reshma, President of Transgender Friends, emphasized in her speech the need for broader recognition of both trans women and trans men, highlighting the importance of inclusion and acknowledgment.

The event concluded with a spirit of camaraderie, leaving guests and organizers with a sense of fulfillment and joy, exemplifying the college’s commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.
