Birth Anniversary of BJP Patriarch Sushil Modi to be Celebrated with Seva Saptah
Patna: The Sushil Kumar Modi Memorial Research Institute announced plans to celebrate the birth anniversary of former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and Rajya Sabha MP, Sushil Kumar Modi, with grandeur on January 5, 2025. A press conference in this regard was jointly addressed by the institute’s president Sanjay Gupta, patrons Dr. Sahajanand (National President, IMA), renowned physician Dr. H. N. Diwakar, retired IAS officer Uday Singh, and organizing committee officials Deepak Kumar Agarwal and Mukesh Hissaria on Sunday. The event will be held at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna and will also mark the inauguration of a seven-day Seva Saptah program.
From January 6 to 12, various social welfare activities will be conducted across Bihar’s districts under the Seva Saptah program. These include blood donation camps, distribution of study materials to schoolchildren, tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and fruit distribution in hospitals. Medical checkup camps, Ayushman card distribution, and provision of food and clothing to the underprivileged are also part of the program. The activities will culminate on January 12, Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary, with a surgical camp and distribution of artificial limbs to the differently-abled and essential items to 1,000 poor people.
Sanjay Gupta emphasized Sushil Modi’s lifelong dedication to society, calling him a pioneer of Bihar’s reconstruction. Gupta highlighted his tenure as Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister as a golden period for the state, during which Modi worked to revive Bihar’s economy and strengthen its identity. Beyond his administrative role, Modi was deeply involved in social causes such as body, organ, and eye donation awareness and played a crucial part in establishing blood banks and supporting families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Institute’s patrons, Dr. Sahajanand and Dr. H.N. Diwakar, pointed out that despite being a political leader, Sushil Modi selflessly contributed to social service and brought positive changes in society. They noted that his work transcended politics, highlighting his commitment to addressing human-centric issues and inspiring people to contribute to society.
The organizing committee shared details of the Seva Saptah activities. These include food and clothing distribution at the blind school in Patna on January 6, study material distribution at Dhanki Primary School and Sankalp Samaroh on January 7, a medical checkup camp and Ayushman card distribution at Malahi Pakdi on January 8, and a blood donation camp at Maa Blood Bank on 9 January. Additional programs include tree plantation on January 10 and cleanliness and fruit distribution drives in hospitals on January 11. The Red Cross Society of Patna City will also host a seminar and a blood donation camp on the same day.
The week-long event is aimed at honoring Sushil Modi’s legacy and inspiring the youth to follow his footsteps. The celebrations, organized under the guidance of BJP State President Dr. Dilip Jaiswal, will invite leaders from all parties, social and religious organizations, intellectuals, and prominent personalities. The program will conclude with a grand event under the guidance of Padmashri Vimal Jain.
