Municipal Commissioner Accuses Mayor’s Son of Extorting Money, Shishir Threatens Defamation Case

Patna: The conflict between Patna Municipal Corporation administration and Mayor Sita Sahu has intensified, with Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parasar leveling serious allegations against the Mayor’s son, Shishir Kumar. He has claimed that vendors are being given extensions only after paying money, and only selected vendors benefit from this arrangement. Parasar has also alleged that money is demanded from agency employees and that undue pressure is created for personal interests.

Mayor Sita Sahu has outrightly rejected these allegations, stating that the Municipal Commissioner himself is involved in demanding money. She has sent a letter regarding the matter to the Chief Minister, the Union Home Department, and the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Shishir Kumar has announced that he will file a defamation case against the Municipal Commissioner, claiming that his reputation is being tarnished.

Shishir Kumar has challenged the allegations, stating that CCTV cameras are installed in the corporation office and that evidence should be presented if any wrongdoing has occurred. He claimed to have written proof against the Municipal Commissioner and alleged that an illegal extension was given to a company even after its tenure ended, with payments being made. He also questioned the allocation of crores of rupees received by the Municipal Corporation and demanded a thorough investigation.

Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parasar has further pointed out that the Empowered Standing Committee has not convened for several months, causing a delay in municipal work. Due to this, a new agency has not been selected, and the manpower and driving agency whose tenure has ended continue to function. Even after documents were sent to the Empowered Standing Committee, they were not included in the work list.

In response to these issues, a proposal has been sent to the department, urging an end to the extension process. The proposal suggests that the work period of any agency should be fixed during the tender process itself and that the authority to extend agency contracts should be transferred to the department to prevent illegal recoveries.
