Patna: A grand cultural evening was held at Gyan Bhawan, Patna this evening, under the joint aegis of the Department of Art, Culture and Youth, Government of Bihar, Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs. The event featured a captivating dance performance by renowned artists from Fiji, with The Shobhana Channel Dance Group enthralling the audience.
The programme was inaugurated by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Art, Culture and Youth, Vijay Kumar Sinha. In his address, he highlighted the significance of cultural exchange in fostering global recognition of art and tradition. “We are the creators and custodians of culture. It is our responsibility to preserve and enhance it,” he said. Reflecting on the preservation of Indian culture in Fiji, he remarked that it was a testament to the enduring strength of Indian traditions. Noting that the event coincided with Mahashivratri, he added, “Those who respect culture and creation receive the blessings of Mahadev.”
Pranav Kumar, Secretary of the Department of Art, Culture and Youth, also addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of cultural exchange in enriching heritage. “Since ancient times, songs and music have played a crucial role in promoting culture. This presentation on Mahashivratri holds special significance,” he said, adding that the department was committed to furthering cultural initiatives under the minister’s guidance.
The evening featured performances such as Bihar Gaurav Gaan and Shiv Tandava, which highlighted the cultural richness of the state. These presentations by artists from Bihar captivated the audience.
Among the dignitaries present were Regional Passport Officer Shwadha Rizvi, Deputy Secretary of the department Anil Kumar Sinha, and Administrative Officer of Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir Kahkashan, along with a large gathering of art lovers and cultural enthusiasts.
