17-Year-Old Student Stabbed to Death Outside Coaching Centre in Bettiah; Centre Set on Fire

Bettiah: A 17-year-old student, Divyanshu Kumar, was stabbed to death outside the RD Coaching Centre in Bettiah on Tuesday evening. The deceased, a resident of Purbi Kargahia village, was an intermediate student. The tragic incident occurred near the RD Library in the Mufassil police station area.
According to Divyanshu’s brother, Priyanshu, the victim was on his way home when he was suddenly surrounded by a group of youths. Sensing danger, Divyanshu called his brother for help. However, by the time Priyanshu arrived, Divyanshu was already being beaten up. During the altercation, one of the accused stabbed him in the back, and the knife pierced through his chest, leading to his death.
Following the fatal attack, tension escalated in the area. Sadar SDPO Vivek Deep stated that the clash was between current and former students of the coaching centre. In retaliation, a group of youths from Purbi Kargahia set the RD Coaching Centre on fire by sprinkling petrol.
The police acted swiftly, arresting two accused in connection with the murder. SP Dr. Shaurya Suman visited the crime scene, where fire brigade, forensic teams, and a dog squad were deployed. The victim’s postmortem is being conducted at GMCH, and a case has been registered.
SDPO Vivek Deep confirmed that Divyanshu was fatally stabbed and later succumbed to his injuries during treatment. He assured that a thorough investigation is underway and further action will be taken based on the findings.
The incident has triggered panic and anger in the area, with residents and the victim’s family demanding strict action against the perpetrators. The police are maintaining strict vigilance to prevent further escalation of violence.
