Ruckus in Bihar Assembly as Speaker Confiscates Posters from MLAs

Patna : The Bihar Legislative Assembly witnessed a heated session on the fifth day of the budget session as opposition MLAs clashed with the Speaker during Question Hour.

As soon as proceedings commenced at 11 am, opposition members attempted to raise issues, but Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav urged them to wait for the appropriate time. The situation escalated when CPI(ML) MLAs began waving posters in protest. In response, the Speaker ordered marshals to confiscate the posters, leading to a brief standoff.

Amidst the disruption, BJP MLA Amarendra Singh raised concerns over alleged irregularities in paddy procurement. He accused the government of inflating procurement figures by involving middlemen instead of purchasing directly from farmers. Supporting the claim, MLA Tarkishore Prasad alleged that genuine farmers in Katihar and other districts had been overlooked.

Defending the government, Co-operative Minister Prem Kumar stated that paddy procurement had increased from 66% last year to 87% this year. He assured the House that any irregularities brought to the government’s notice would be investigated, and action would be taken against those responsible.
