Bihar To Set Up 277 EV Charging Stations To Tackle Infrastructure Gap

Patna: The Bihar government has announced plans to set up 277 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the state over the next five years, addressing a growing demand amid the rising number of EVs.

Speaking during the budget session in the Bihar Legislative Council, Transport Minister Sheila Kumar outlined the phased rollout of charging infrastructure. The first phase will see 136 stations established within three years, with an additional 141 stations to follow in the subsequent two years. These charging points will be strategically located at railway stations, airports, national and state highways, and government or semi-government buildings.

The initiative comes in response to concerns raised by MLC Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, who highlighted the lack of adequate charging infrastructure despite increasing EV adoption.
