Patna: A newly constructed crèche for children of female employees was inaugurated at Niyojan Bhavan in Patna on Monday, in a move aimed at supporting working mothers. The facility, launched by Bihar’s Labour Resources Minister, Santosh Kumar Singh, seeks to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children during office hours.
Singh described the initiative as part of the state government’s efforts to create a more inclusive and supportive workplace. “This crèche will enable working mothers to focus on their professional responsibilities without worrying about childcare,” he said at the inauguration ceremony, where he also distributed biscuits, toys, and gifts to the children present.
A Modern Facility for Childcare
Special Secretary Alok Kumar outlined the amenities available at the crèche, which has been designed to accommodate 15 to 20 children aged between one and five years. The facility includes a feeding room, play area, tables, an RO water system, and storage space. A crèche worker and an assistant have been appointed to provide supervision and care.
The Labour Resources Department has described the initiative as part of its broader agenda to improve workplace facilities and promote gender inclusivity.
Strengthening Support for Working Women
Singh highlighted that the initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment. “This facility is a step towards ensuring a work environment that is more supportive of women and their families,” he said.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Labour Commissioner Rajesh Bharti and other senior officials. The initiative has been welcomed by female employees, who see it as a crucial step in addressing childcare concerns while balancing professional responsibilities.
