Gaya/Patna: Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has launched a scathing attack on RJD chief Lalu Prasad after his son, Tej Pratap Yadav, allegedly forced a police constable to dance at his residence in Patna during Holi. The constable has since been sent to the police lines.
Referring to the period of Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi’s rule in Bihar, Manjhi accused Tej Pratap of following in his father’s footsteps. “What is surprising in this? They are just continuing the legacy,” Manjhi told reporters after virtually handing over benefits of central government schemes on Sunday.
‘Lalu Had Also Threatened an IAS Officer’
Manjhi, the Hindustani Awam Morcha- Secular (HAM- S) patron and a minister in the central government, claimed that Tej Pratap’s alleged misconduct was part of a pattern. “These people are known for wrongdoings. Everyone knows what used to happen in Ane Marg during his father’s rule,” he said.
The former Bihar chief minister also recalled an alleged past remark by Lalu Prasad. “There was a time when Tej Pratap Yadav’s father said to an IAS officer: ‘Do this work, or we will hang you from the fan.’ Is there any place for this in a democracy? But they are known for such behaviour,” he said.
Response to Tejashwi Yadav on Police Killings
Meanwhile, when asked about Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s criticism of the Bihar government over the recent killings of two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), Manjhi acknowledged the gravity of the situation but defended Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s record.
“The murder of policemen is a matter of concern, but it is incorrect to say that more officers have been killed under Nitish Kumar’s rule. The government ensures that the families of martyrs receive proper compensation, and strict measures are taken to prevent such incidents. The chief minister has repeatedly issued strict orders on this matter,” he said.
