Bihar Officials Call for Gender Sensitisation at ‘Udaan’ Women’s Empowerment Event

Patna: Gender sensitisation must begin at home to ensure true empowerment of women, Special Secretary of the Home Department K Suhita Anupam said at an interactive session on women’s empowerment, security, and respect. Speaking at ‘Udaan,’ an event organised by the Department of Weaker Sections, Crime Investigation, at Sardar Patel Bhawan Auditorium on Tuesday, Anupam highlighted the role of families and society in creating a supportive environment for women.

“We can lay a strong foundation for women’s empowerment by sensitising our sons towards gender equality and providing equal opportunities to our daughters,” she said. “Along with the administration, families and society must also take responsibility for ensuring a better environment for women.”

She also praised Bihar’s cycle scheme, launched under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, for enabling mobility and independence for girls across the state. “The scheme has given wings to the girls of Bihar, allowing them to fly towards a brighter future,” she added.

The event was attended by Director General of Police Vinay Kumar as the chief guest, with film actress Neetu Chandra as a special guest. Additional Director General of Police (Weaker Sections) Dr Amit Kumar Jain, Additional Director General of Police Paras Nath, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Special Branch) Harpreet Kaur, Superintendent of Police (Weaker Sections) Aamir Javed, and other senior officials from Bihar Police and the Home Department were also present, along with hundreds of women police personnel.
