Grand Temple Dedicated to Sita Maa to Be Built in Punaura Dham, Announces Nityanand Rai

Sitamarhi / Patna : Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, announced that a grand temple dedicated to Sita Mata will soon be constructed at her birthplace in Punaura Dham, Sitamarhi. Speaking to journalists in Patna on Wednesday, Rai said that the new temple would attract as many devotees as the recently inaugurated Ram temple in Ayodhya and would further uphold and strengthen Sanatan culture.
‘Ram and Roti’ – Modi’s Dual Contribution
Highlighting the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, Nityanand Rai remarked, “The country wants both Ram and roti. Prime Minister Modi has provided both by building a magnificent Ram temple in Ayodhya and simultaneously creating employment opportunities that have lifted 25 crore people out of poverty.” Rai emphasized that this dual focus on cultural revival and economic upliftment has solidified India’s position on the global stage.
Temple to Strengthen Sanatan Culture
Nityanand Rai underlined the significance of constructing a temple in honour of Sita, stating, “Where is Maa Sita without Lord Ram, and where is Lord Ram without Maa Sita?” He noted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had announced the temple project, which would reinforce India’s Sanatan culture. Rai expressed confidence that with the establishment of the Sita temple in Punaura Dham, along with the Ram temple in Ayodhya, India would take a step closer to becoming a Vishwaguru (world leader) under Modi’s leadership.
Historical and Cultural Significance of Punaura Dham
Punaura Dham, located in Sitamarhi district, is revered as the birthplace of Sita. According to legend, during a period of severe famine in Mithila, King Janak was advised by the royal priest to plough the land. During this process, an earthen pot emerged from the ground, containing the infant Sita. The site has since been a centre of faith for millions.
Rising Footfall and Development Efforts
Punaura Dham has become an essential stop for devotees undertaking the Ramayana Corridor pilgrimage, drawing lakhs of visitors annually. To accommodate this growing influx of pilgrims, the government has recently allocated substantial funds to improve tourist facilities and enhance infrastructure around the temple complex.
