Sabour: Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, is successfully running the ‘Sawaal-Jawab’ program to assist farmers across the state. Organized on the first, third, and fifth Saturday of every month, the program is broadcast live through social media platforms and Krishi Gyan Vahan. Farmers directly interact with BAU experts and scientists, receiving immediate solutions to their agricultural problems. This initiative is proving highly effective, benefiting thousands of farmers.
Between April 2024 and March 2025, a total of 22 sessions were conducted under ‘Sawaal-Jawab,’ benefiting 15,720 farmers. Major topics covered included “Cultivation of Hot Vegetables” (1,755 farmers benefited), “Advanced Cultivation of Wheat” (1,271 farmers benefited), “Pest and Disease Management in Rabi Crops” (1,752 farmers benefited), and “Crop Residue Management” (1,034 farmers benefited). Looking ahead, from April to July 2025, sessions will focus on topics such as “Maintenance of Animals in Summer Season,” “Management of Fruit Orchards,” “Various Types of Vegetable Production Techniques,” “Advanced Varieties of Paddy,” and “Diseases in Animals in Rainy Season.”
The YouTube channel “BAU Sabour,” operated by the university, has emerged as a major digital resource for farmers, students, and agricultural enthusiasts. The channel has received over 5 crore views, accumulating more than 31 lakh watch hours. With over 4.49 lakh subscribers, it has gained recognition not only in India but also in Pakistan, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, reflecting its growing influence in agricultural education.
Vice Chancellor of Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, Dr. D. R. Singh, emphasized the impact of digital learning, stating that providing the right technology and knowledge to farmers through digital platforms can bring significant improvements in their lives. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to empowering farmers with the latest agricultural techniques and making them self-reliant. The university aims to further enhance its digital initiatives to support the farming community.
