Patna : The long-congested road from Danapur Cantt to Bihta via Maner is set for a major upgrade, with authorities approving its expansion into a four-lane highway. The project, aimed at easing traffic between Patna and Ara/Aurangabad via Bihta, will cost Rs189 crore.

In a broader effort to tackle chronic congestion, the Road Construction Department, in collaboration with the Water Resources Department and Patna District Administration, has initiated three alternative road projects.

Expanding Road Infrastructure to Ease Traffic

One of the major projects involves extending the JP Ganga Path from Digha JP Golambar in Patna to Sherpur, followed by the construction of a 17-km elevated road. Additionally, an 18.5-km road will be built along the river embankment up to Koilwar Bridge. The total cost for this 35.5-km stretch is estimated at Rs6,496 crore, with financing secured from HUDCO.

To facilitate vehicles traveling from Aurangabad, a 23-km road will be developed from Daurapur near Kanpa, running along an existing canal on the western side of IIT Patna, connecting to Bihta Chowk.

Meanwhile, the 27-km stretch from Danapur Cantt to Bihta via Maner will be widened to four lanes, providing a viable alternative route for commuters traveling between Patna and Bihta via Danapur Station and Kanhauli.
