Chhapra/Patna: A 10-year-old boy was killed by an out-of-control truck near Jahari Pakdi village in Bihar’s Chhapra on Wednesday morning, sparking violent protests and clashes between residents and police.
The child, identified as Manoj, was reportedly on his way to school when he was crushed by the speeding truck. He died on the spot. Enraged by the incident, villagers gathered at the site, blocked the road, and set fire to debris, demanding immediate action.
The situation escalated when police attempted to clear the blockade. The crowd responded with intense stone-pelting, forcing officers to retreat briefly. The confrontation occurred in Pakdi village, under the jurisdiction of Amanour police station.
Authorities later dispersed the mob and retrieved the child’s body, which was sent for a post-mortem examination. A police force remains deployed in the area to prevent further unrest, although officials say the situation has stabilised.
Residents have called for compensation for the bereaved family and strict action against those responsible. Police said the truck’s helper has been taken into custody, and efforts are ongoing to trace the driver
