Three Killed, Several Injured in Bus-Truck Collision on NH-107 in Bihar’s Khagaria

Khagaria/ Patna: At least three people were killed and more than half a dozen injured in a high-speed collision between a passenger bus and a truck on National Highway 107 in Khagaria district, Bihar, on Sunday. The crash occurred near Bela Navad village under Beldaur police station limits.

According to police, the bus, operated by Shivji Travels, was en route from Saharsa to Bhagalpur when a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction lost control and rammed into it head-on. The impact killed two passengers and the bus’s khalasi (helper) on the spot.

Local residents rushed to the scene upon hearing the crash and began pulling passengers out of the mangled bus. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic aftermath, with victims trapped in the wreckage and cries for help echoing from the bus.

“There was a loud explosion when the vehicles collided. People were bleeding, some died on the spot. We rescued as many as we could before the police arrived,” said Shivam Kumar, a local resident.

Police have identified one of the deceased as Sushil Singh, a resident of Dhabauli village in Saharsa district. The identities of the other two victims are yet to be confirmed. All injured passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

“The accident appears to have been caused by the high speed of both vehicles. The injured were immediately referred to the hospital, and efforts are on to identify the remaining deceased,” Beldaur police said in a statement.

Pintu Kumar, an injured passenger, described the moment of the crash as terrifying. “The impact was so powerful, it felt like no one would survive. We were all in shock. It happened in seconds—we didn’t even realise what hit us,” he said.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Khagaria Sadar Hospital for postmortem. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
