Patna : In a major push to improve public transport connectivity, the Bihar government is set to roll out deluxe bus services from 102 subdivisions across the state, linking smaller towns directly to district headquarters and major cities.
The initiative, led by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC), aims to enhance intercity mobility, particularly benefiting residents in rural and semi-urban areas. The project is expected to go live in the first or second week of May, with permits for the fleet scheduled to be issued by 30 April.
Patna, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Saharsa, and Munger have been identified as key district centres from which these deluxe buses will operate. The plan involves deploying 166 modern, comfortable buses—96 of which have already received permits. The remaining vehicles are expected to be cleared in the coming days.
Officials state that this expanded network will provide easier access to district headquarters for residents in panchayat and subdivision-level towns, addressing long-standing transportation gaps. The new buses are designed to offer a more reliable and comfortable travel experience, a significant upgrade from existing services in many areas.
