According to eyewitnesses, after the series of accidents, the driver tried to flee towards Dakbungla Square. However, angry bystanders chased the car, managed to stop it near Voltas Mor, dragged the driver out, and beat him up. In their anger, the mob also overturned the vehicle.

Police from Kotwali police station, led by Inspector Rajan Kumar, arrived promptly at the scene, took the driver into custody, and sent him for medical treatment. The seized Innova has been impounded, and further investigations are underway.

The incident began after the driver, reportedly returning from playing football at a ground in Shastri Nagar, collided with a bike rider near Rajvanshi Nagar, causing serious injuries. Ignoring calls to stop, the driver sped towards Vishwaeshwaraya Bhavan, where he hit a handcart vendor.

He then continued recklessly towards the High Court turn, where a couple riding a bike was knocked down. As the vehicle approached the busy Income Tax Golambar, it struck several more people standing near the service lane towards Voltas Mor.
